Every team undertaking a major performance improvement project must have a clear idea of the scope of
their assignment, which approach and tools will be used, what their roles and responsibilities are, how
the project links to corporate objectives and how the project will be structured, scheduled, led and
supported. Effective training is a vital component of any significant initiative.
Focused Management has developed a
suite of training modules that range from executive overviews and briefings, through active team
orientations, to analyst and facilitator programs. With this line up,
Focused Management can provide effective
single project support, in-house resource development for clients who wish it, and broad-based training
and orientation programs for organization-wide transformations.
Introduction to Process Performance Architecture
A one-half to a full day introduction for people at all levels of the organization in order to
familiarize them with the objectives, theory, methods, tools, roles and responsibilities and
deliverables.
Business Process Analysts’ Workshop
2-3 days of detailed training is built around our basic performance architecture and process improvement
and management methodology, combining solid technological background and toolkit instruction with
“peel-the-onion”, multi-level mapping and analysis applications. It will prepare competent candidates
to document complex, cross-functional processes and to complete preliminary performance analyses, either
independently or in support of a Process Owner and/or Process Improvement Team.
Facilitator Training for Performance Architects
Focused Management’s core program for facilitators prepares participants to facilitate complex, cross-functional
business process improvement/redesign projects. The program can be delivered in a scaled-down version,
allowing candidates to deal with smaller, less complex, less cross-functional and probably less
strategically critical processes. This latter version is ideal for anyone looking at basic improvement
in a functional area or general improvement in a smaller, less hierarchical organization.
Facilitator Training for Process Improvement Change Agents
A follow-up program for experienced process design team members to prepare them to work with expanding
implementation teams. The proven change model, executed with the disciplines of solid project management,
pays particular attention to the human dimension of change. This workshop relates specifically to
implementing process improvements; but the change model is much more generally applicable. It can be
used to make any significant change that may be contemplated by your organization.
Facilitator Training for Activity Based Job Modeling
A second follow-up program to prepare team members to develop the job models and performance frameworks,
driven by the activity level of process redesign. (Job modeling can also be a component of a basic
process project dealing with documentation, management or measures without necessarily having process
improvement as a prerequisite.)
Workshop for Process Mappers
To prepare individuals to provide mapping and documentation services to improvement teams.
Process Owner’s Workshop
Highlighting the roles and responsibilities of Process Owners and others, with process support
assignments. This workshop will also introduce the principles and management of “Performance
Architecture” from the CEO’s perspective. It is in this perspective that all major Process Ownership
assignments should be made and managed.
Workshop for Performance Managers and Process Improvement Process Owners
An advanced program for senior managers accountable for or interested in launching a major,
performance-based transformation of their organization, and/or are responsible for the development and
deployment of a significant internal support resource for that initiative.
